BIBLE THOUGHTS

Acts 27:27-32 NKJV

“Now when the fourteenth night had come, as we were driven up and down in the Adriatic Sea, about midnight the sailors sensed that they were drawing near some land.  And they took soundings and found it to be twenty fathoms; and when they had gone a little farther, they took soundings again and found it to be fifteen fathoms.  Then, fearing lest we should run aground on the rocks, they dropped four anchors from the stern, and prayed for day to come. And as the sailors were seeking to escape from the ship, when they had let down the skiff into the sea, under pretense of putting out anchors from the prow, Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, “Unless these men stay in the ship, you cannot be saved.”  Then the soldiers cut away the ropes of the skiff and let it fall off.”

Have you ever been so afraid or discouraged that you wanted to “jump ship” (give up)? Storms will come into your life, but we must not let the storm dominate or disturbed us.

1. Anchor One – Control

God is in control. He has power and authority over everything.

2. Anchor Two – Prominence

Remember that advancing the kingdom of God is more important than our temporary discomfort.

3. Anchor Three – Influence

God can use our storm to influence and affect other people.

4. Anchor Four – Perspective

See things from God’s perspective. See the storm through God’s eyes.

Dear Father,

By the power of Your Holy Spirit, help me not to give up. When I am afraid or discouraged may I always remember that You are in control. Nothing comes my way without have gone by you first. In times of temporary discomfort fill me with Your strength and power. May the things I go through bring glory and honor to You. Cause me to rise above the storm and see things through Your eyes.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
