Praying For Yourself As You Grow Older

Dear Father,
I come before You on my behalf. I ask that you give me rest and encouragement. May You ease, relieve and refresh my soul, spirit and body. By the power of the Holy Spirit, may I cast all my cares, burdens and anxieties upon You. Put a new song in my heart and on my lips. By the power of the Holy Spirit, cause me to remember and hold on to the promise that You will not permit the righteous to be moved – that You will sustain me in every area and season of my life. I thank-you that the righteous shall flourish and shall still bear fruit in old age. I shall be fresh and flourishing. You are my Rock and I will declare Your glory.
In Jesus’ name, Amen
.
.

Psalm 92:12-15 NKJV
“The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree,
He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Those who are planted in the house of the Lord
Shall flourish in the courts of our God.
They shall still bear fruit in old age;
They shall be fresh and flourishing,
To declare that the Lord is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.”

Psalm 40

Dear Lord,

Help me to wait patiently for you. I know You turn to me and hear my cry. You lift me up. You set me feet on a rock. You give me a firm place to stand. Put a new song in my mouth. I praise You God. I put my trust in You. Many are Your wonders O Lord. You have many things planned for my family and I. I desire to do Your will. Please do not withhold Your mercy from us. O Lord, come quickly to help us. You are my help and my deliver. O my God, do not delay. You are a shield around me. You bestow glory on me and lift up my head. To You I cry aloud, and You answer me from Your holy hill. You sustain me. Arise O Lord! Deliver me. From You alone comes deliverance.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Psalm 40 NKJV

“I waited patiently for the Lord;

And He inclined to me,

And heard my cry.

He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,

Out of the miry clay,

And set my feet upon a rock,

And established my steps.

He has put a new song in my mouth –

Praise to our God;

Many will see it and fear,

And will trust in the Lord.

Blessed is that man who makes the Lord his trust,

And does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works

Which You have done;

And Your thoughts toward us

Cannot be recounted to You in order;

If I would declare and speak of them,

They are more than can be numbered.

Sacrifice and offering You did not desire;

My ears You have opened.

Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require.

Then I said, “Behold, I come;

In the scroll of the book it is written of me.

I delight to do Your will, O my God,

And Your law is within my heart.”

I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness

In the great assembly;

Indeed, I do not restrain my lips,

O Lord, You Yourself know.

I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart;

I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation;

I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth

From the great assembly.

Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O Lord;

Let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me.

For innumberable evils have surrounded me;

My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up;

They are more than the hairs of my head;

Therefore my heart fails me.

Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me;

O Lord, make haste to help me!

Let them be ashamed and brought to mutual confusion

Who seek to destroy my life;

Let them be driven backward and brought to dishonor

Who wish me evil.

Let them be confounded because of their shame,

Who say to me, “Aha, Aha!”

Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;

Let such as love Your salvation say continually,

“The Lord be magnified!”

But I am poor and needy;

Yet the Lord thinks upon me.

You are my help and my deliverer;

                                                        Do not delay, O my God.”

Prayer From Psalm 27

Psalm 27 NKJV

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident. One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord. Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me. When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.” Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation. When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me. Teach me Your way, O Lord, And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies. Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence. I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!”

Dear Lord,

You are my light and my salvation. You are the strength of my life. When my enemies come against me they will stumble and fall. When the enemy camps around me my heart shall not fear. When war rises against me I will be confident in You. O Lord, I do desire to seek You. I desire to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. I desire to behold Your beauty, O Lord. In the time of trouble You shall hide me in Your pavilion, in the secret place of Your tabernacle. You will hide me and set me high upon a rock. My head shall be lifted up above my enemies. Help me, O Lord, to offer sacrifices of joy unto You. I will sing praises unto You. Have mercy on me and answer me. Do not hide Your face from me. Do not turn Your servant away in anger. Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation. You, O Lord, will take care of me. I would have lost heart unless I had believed that I would see Your goodness, in the land of the living. Help me, O Lord, to wait on You, help me be of good courage. Strengthen my heart.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Psalm 37:5 NKJV

“Commit your way to the Lord,

Trust also in Him,

And He shall bring it to pass”

Dear Father,

Your Word instructs me to commit my ways unto You. I thank You that when I commit my ways to You, You direct my every step. Cause me to be very careful about making promises. When I do, let me carry them out faithfully. By the power of the Holy Spirit, help me to grow in my commitment to You and to Your ways. May I be quick to do what You have called me to do. I commit myself fresh and anew to You. I place my entire life under Your control. I choose to roll my every care and concern onto You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Dear Father,

Thank-you for Your mercy and Your forgiveness. You are my salvation, my Defender and my Shield. When the enemy comes against me and devises trouble, You are there protecting me, strengthening and delivering me. You preserve me and keep me full of life. Thank-you for the armor that You have given me. As I place my armor on You, O Lord, will not allow me to be taken at the will of my enemies. With You by my side I have the assurance that my enemies will not triumph over me. You uphold me in my integrity. The knowledge that I am ever on Your mind is too wonderful to comprehend. I will bless Your name forever. By the power of the Holy Spirit, help me show compassion to those around me, including those who have brought trouble on themselves. Help me to please You in everything I do, say, and think.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Psalm  41:1-13  NKJV     “Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.
The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed. I said, “Lord, be merciful to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You.” My enemies speak evil of me: “When will he die, and his name perish?” And if he comes to see me, he speaks lies; His heart gathers iniquity to itself; When he goes out, he tells it. All who hate me whisper together against me; Against me they devise my hurt. “An evil disease,” they say, “clings to him. And now that he lies down, he will rise up no more.” Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me. But You, O Lord, be merciful to me, and raise me up, That I may repay them. By this I know that You are well pleased with me, Because my enemy does not triumph over me. As for me, You uphold me in my integrity, And set me before Your face forever. Blessed be the Lord God of Israel From everlasting to everlasting! Amen and Amen.”
