Don’t Compromise God’s Standards of Holiness

1 Peter 1:15-16 NKJV
“ but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

One meaning of compromise is a concession to something derogatory or prejudicial. It could also be described as making a dishonorable or shameful concession. In today’s world some believers make concessions or accommodations for those who do not agree with God’s standards. In so doing they allow the world to set their standards. God does not condone or overlook compromising His standards. Often times believers that refuse to compromise God’s standards of holiness are seen as intolerant. In today’s world intolerance is viewed as hate, however intolerance and hate are not the same. God loves everyone (even those in sin) but He will not tolerate (put up with) sin or compromises to His Word.

Leviticus 11:45 NKJV
“For I am the Lord who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.”

If God has delivered you from “Egypt” (bondage or sin) then you are to be holy. Holiness is being set apart for God. As people set apart for God we must be obedient and submissive to His will and wholeheartedly devoted in our relationship with Him. We are not to compromise or deviate from His standards. We are to be holy because He is holy. We cannot truly be set apart for God and His purposes and plans when we compromise His standards, His laws, or His desires.

Dear Father,
You have called me to be holy because You are holy. By the power of the Holy Spirit, help me to be holy in all my conduct.
Don’t allow me to make concessions to Your Word because of culture and the time that I live in. May I not compromise Your standards or tolerate sin in my life. Thank-you for bringing me out of bondage and sin. In everything I do, in everything I say, may I bring glory and honor to You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen
