Jesus’ Final Passover

Jesus’ Final Passover

Luke 22:15 NKJV
“Then He said to them, ‘With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer’ ”

Jesus’ final Passover was special and He had awaited it for a long time. It was at His final Passover that He instituted the new covenant. After the meal was eaten, Jesus broke the bread and gave it to them, saying ‘This is My body which is given for you.’ Then He picked up the third cup of wine (the cup of redemption) and said to them, ‘This is the new covenant in My blood which is shed for you.’ The first thing (first works) that the disciples did under the new covenant was to participate in communion.

Luke 22:17-20 NKJV
“Then He took the cup, and gave thanks and said, ‘Take this and divide it among yourselves, for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.’ And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me’ Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, ‘This is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you’ ”

In the garden and on the cross, Jesus saw every sickness, illness and disease, and He was willing to pay the price for them for all eternity. Jesus took upon Himself every sickness and every sin.

Dear Father,
Thank-you for the new covenant that You have given us through Jesus Christ. Thank-you, Jesus, for giving Your blood and Your body for us. On the cross You saw every sickness, illness and disease, and You were willing to pay the price for them for all eternity. You took upon Yourself my every sickness and every sin. By the power of the Holy Spirit, may we never forget the many benefits that You provide us with and all the wonderful things that You have done for us.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About watchingservant

"Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them." Luke 12:37 NKJV When Jesus returns I desire to be found faithful. More than anything in the world I long to hear the voice of the Lord say, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
