Joshua 10:12-14 NKJV
“Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.” So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, Till the people had revenge Upon their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the Lord heeded the voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel.”
The five kings of the Amorites gathered together with all their armies to attack Gibeon because they had had made peace with Israel. The men of Gibeon sent a message to Joshua about the Amorites, asking that he come and help them fight their enemy.
So Joshua and all the people of war set out to Gibeon. The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not fear them, for I have delivered them into your hand.”
During the battle Joshua called out to God and said, “Sun, stand still over Gibeon and Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.” Hearing Joshua’s request, God caused the sun to stand still and the moon to stop for a period of time, allowing the people victory over their enemies.
I thank-you that You have power over everything and that You can do all things. I thank-you that You hear my cry and You help me overcome whatever comes against me. Through You alone I have victory!
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
