1 Samuel 1:20 NKJV
“So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel saying, “Because I have asked for him from the Lord.”
Hannah went with her family each year to Shiloh to worship and offer a sacrifice to the Lord. One morning after they had finished eating Hannah went to the house of the Lord. At the tabernacle of the Lord she prayed to the Lord and cried out in sorrow. Hannah had no children and she desperately wanted a son. Then she made a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head.”
When Eli came into the tabernacle he saw Hannah praying so hard that only her lips moved, her voice was not heard, so Eli thought she was drunk.
Hannah told Eli that she had been pouring out her soul before the Lord. Then Eli said, “Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition which you have asked of Him.” Then Hannah went her way and she was no longer sad. In time, God answered her prayer and she gave birth to a son, whom she named Samuel.
I thank-you that You see my heart and that You hear and answer my prayers. There is nothing too big or you small for You. You alone can cause the barren to come to life. I thank-you that You are the one who brings peace and true joy.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
