Praying John 16:9-17

Dear Father,

Help me by the power of the Holy Spirit to know You personally. I don’t want a form of religion, but a relationship. I desire to experience an intimate relationship with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Help me to recognize Your voice. Let my relationship with You be made up of love, respect, reverence, and obedience, not an encounter with man or of works.

Don‘t allow me to hanging around the cross, but to take up my cross. I want to do things by the Holy Spirit‘s leading, not in the flesh. Let me speak for You, and not just about You.

Let everything that I do center around my love for You. I desire to love You with my whole person – with everything in me. Help my love for You to be much more than a feeling. Help me to put You first in my life. Cause me to love others and myself.

Let me give You the honor that is due unto You. Help me to show You respect by, and through my actions, thoughts and words. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, help me to be obedient to You. Not just occasionally obedient, but all the time. Help me to submit to, to remain, and stay true to You. Let me abide in obedience.

In Jesus’ name, Amen

John 16:9-17 NKJV

“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you, and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. These things I command you, that you love one another.’”
