Praying For Yourself

Dear Father,

By the power of Your Holy Spirit, help me not to give up. When I am afraid or discouraged may I always remember that You are in control. Nothing comes my way without have gone by You first. In times of temporary discomfort fill me with Your strength and power. May the things I go through bring glory and honor to You. Cause me to rise above the storm and see things through Your eyes.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer For Yourself

Dear Father,

Thank-you for Your Word and Your promises. Thank-you that nothing can separate me from Your love. Your love will see me through tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, and the sword. You give me peace and joy even in the midst of tribulation. You are my refuge and in You I chose to abide.

Help me by the power of the Holy Spirit to turn to You in distress and to obey Your voice. You will not forsake me, destroy me or forget the covenant You have made with me. During times of persecution You are still with me. You won’t allow me to be crushed or filled with hopelessness.

Famine, physical or spiritual, cannot separate me from Your love. You have never forsaken the righteous, nor have allowed them to lack something that they really need. You are my defense, and You surrounds me with You favor.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer For Your Church

(Fill in the blank with the name of your church)

Dear Lord,

Cause everyone in our body to see that worship is not just singing a song from their mouth or good music. Show each person a deeper revelation than they have about worship. Take our entire body into the Holy of Holies. We desire to worship You, O Lord, in spirit and in truth.

Loose from our body religion and tradition, in Jesus’ name, and bind us to freedom of worship. Cause each person to worship You the way You desire and let us truly see that we are worshipping the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

We don’t want to look at anyone but You, Lord. Keep us focused on You alone. Draw each person into Your presence. Fill everyone in _________________ with a desire to see the “Glory of the Lord” in our church.

Lord, we don’t want to go back to the way we used to be. We don’t want to be “dead” in You. I know there is more. Give every person a desire for a more intimate relationship with You. We don’t want religion, we want a relationship with You – the Mighty One, the Only One, the Holy One. Cause each of us, including myself, to hunger for more.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Father,

We love You and exalt Your name. Let us be a people after Your own heart.

We need You more today than we did yesterday. Search our hearts, O Lord, and let us be humble before You. Cause us to seek Your face. Cause us to be a people of holiness and repentance.

Fill our altars with people – let those who have sin come for forgiveness, let those who are sick come for healing, let those who are bound come for deliverance, let those who mourn come for joy. Only Your sweet presence will save, heal, deliver and bring true joy.

Let us hear Your Word for us and let us act upon it. Minister to each person in every service. Look into each heart. Let each of us have a fresh encounter with You. Refresh us and refill us.

Cause us to see ourselves as You do. Shake us up and wake us up. Don’t allow us to be lukewarm, cold or complacent. Revive us and breath new life into us. Cause the dry bones to live again, and cause the body of ________________ to be an exceedingly great army for advancing Your kingdom.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Psalm 40

Psalm 40

Dear Lord,

Help me to wait patiently for you. I know You turn to me and hear my cry. You lift me up. You set me feet on a rock. You give me a firm place to stand. Put a new song in my mouth. I praise You God. I put my trust in You. Many are Your wonders O Lord. You have many things planned for my family and I. I desire to do Your will. Please do not withhold Your mercy from us. O Lord, come quickly to help us. You are my help and my deliver. O my God, do not delay. You are a shield around me. You bestow glory on me and lift up my head. To You I cry aloud, and You answer me from Your holy hill. You sustain me. Arise O Lord! Deliver me. From You alone comes deliverance.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Psalm 40 NKJV

“I waited patiently for the Lord;

And He inclined to me,

And heard my cry.

He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,

Out of the miry clay,

And set my feet upon a rock,

And established my steps.

He has put a new song in my mouth –

Praise to our God;

Many will see it and fear,

And will trust in the Lord.

Blessed is that man who makes the Lord his trust,

And does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works

Which You have done;

And Your thoughts toward us

Cannot be recounted to You in order;

If I would declare and speak of them,

They are more than can be numbered.

Sacrifice and offering You did not desire;

My ears You have opened.

Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require.

Then I said, “Behold, I come;

In the scroll of the book it is written of me.

I delight to do Your will, O my God,

And Your law is within my heart.”

I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness

In the great assembly;

Indeed, I do not restrain my lips,

O Lord, You Yourself know.

I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart;

I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation;

I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth

From the great assembly.

Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O Lord;

Let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me.

For innumberable evils have surrounded me;

My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up;

They are more than the hairs of my head;

Therefore my heart fails me.

Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me;

O Lord, make haste to help me!

Let them be ashamed and brought to mutual confusion

Who seek to destroy my life;

Let them be driven backward and brought to dishonor

Who wish me evil.

Let them be confounded because of their shame,

Who say to me, “Aha, Aha!”

Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;

Let such as love Your salvation say continually,

“The Lord be magnified!”

But I am poor and needy;

Yet the Lord thinks upon me.

You are my help and my deliverer;

                                                        Do not delay, O my God.”

Tu B’Shvat

Standard
Tu B’Shvat

Tu B’ Shvat is the Jewish New Year for trees, for the purpose of calculating the age of the tree for tithing. It is usually in January or February. One custom associated with this celebration is to consume those fruits which grow in the land of Israel. Before any food is eaten a blessing is said.

When we look at a tree in the winter it looks like nothing is happening inside it, but that is far from the truth. Trees (as well as us) have suffered through cold, dark days and nights. The sap is beginning to rise deep in the heart of trees. New life is starting to emerge. Many things are going on where the eyes cannot see. What looks dead and frozen over will blossom out with buds before long. All looks bleak, cold and lifeless, but there is a promise of rejuvenation.

Tu B’ Shvat is the point at which the trees stop being nourished by the waters of the previous year, and begin to be nourished by the new year’s waters. Like the trees on Tu B’ Shvat, last year’s water supply is not enough. We too need fresh rain (fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit / fresh moves of the Holy Spirit).

Tu B’ Shvat has more to do with the tree’s fruit rather than the tree itself. Just like a fruit tree, our lives should produce fruit. As we look back over the past year, how was our fruit bearing? Did we bear fruit?

Galatians 5:22,23 NIV

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control”

There will be (or have been) times in our lives when everything looks bleak and there seems to be no sign of life (growth). During these times we must remember that many things are going on where the eyes can not see.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness

John 20:21-23 NKJV

“So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

Forgiveness is described as the act of forgiving someone or something and the attitude of someone who is willing to forgive other people. According to the Bible peace and forgiveness go hand in hand. If you truly want to have the peace that Jesus desires, you must forgive others.

2 Corinthians 2:9-10 NKJV

“For to this end I also wrote, that I might put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things. Now whom you forgive anything, I also forgive.”

Luke 6:37 NKJV

“Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”

Forgive means to:

* to stop feeling anger toward (someone who has done something wrong)

* to stop blaming (someone)

* to stop feeling anger about (something)

* to forgive someone for (something wrong)

* to stop requiring payment of

* to give up resentment (a feeling of indignant displeasure or persistent ill will at something regarded as a wrong, insult, or injury) of

* to give up claim to requital (something given in return, compensation, or retaliation)

* to cease to feel resentment against

Forgiveness is a choice. When you forgive someone, you are basically stepping back from the situation and allowing God to work in it. You give up what you think is your right to be hurt, offended, angry and resentful. You also give up what you think is your right for compensation and retaliation.

When you forgive someone who has done something wrong

* YOU stop feeling anger toward them.

* YOU stop blaming them.

* YOU stop feeling anger about them.

* YOU stop holding it against them.

* YOU give up resentment (a feeling of indignant displeasure or persistent ill will at something regarded as a wrong, insult, or injury) toward them.

* YOU give up claim to requital (something given in return, compensation, or retaliation) from them.

* YOU cease to feel resentment against them.

Dear Father,

I choose this day to forgive everyone who has, or who I think has, wronged me or my family. I choose not to hold on to anger, hurt, resentment, or bitterness. I choose to walk in love and forgiveness. I pray blessings on each of these people. Help me by the power of the Holy Spirit to have a godly mindset.

In Jesus’ name, Amen

Morning Is On The Way

Morning Is On The Way

splinter

Sometimes when we are hurting we are like a little child that gets a splinter in their finger. They immediately grab their finger with their other hand and hold on to it as they begin to cry out to their parent, “It hurts! It hurts!” As the parent reaches out to try to take hold of the finger to look at it, the child keeps pulling it back close to them. All the time still crying out, “It hurts!” The parent can do nothing to help the child until the child allows the parent to take hold of the finger and look at it. Once the child quits pulling the finger back the parent can then do whatever is necessary in order to remove the splinter. Sometimes there is discomfort and sometimes there is pain in the process – but when it is over there is instant relief.

I feel that God would say to many today, “Let me have your hurt. Yes, there will be pain and discomfort as I remove whatever is hurting you, but in the end there will be relief.

Isaiah 51:11 NKJV

“So the ransomed of the Lord shall return,

And come to Zion with singing,

With everlasting joy on their heads.

They shall obtain joy and gladness;

Sorrow and sighing shall flee away.”

Psalm 30:5 NKJV

“…Weeping may endure for a night,

But joy comes in the morning.”

Dear Father,

Thank-you for Your promise of joy and gladness. I bring all my hurts before You and place them in Your hands. Help me by the power of the Holy Spirit not to keep pulling my hurts back from Your hands. There is pain and discomfort, so I ask that You comfort me and strengthen me through the healing process. Shine Your light on what hurts and remove it from me. I will obtain joy and gladness. The sorrow that I am feeling right now will flee away and the weeping will come to an end. I thank-you, Father, that morning is on the way.

In Jesus’ name, Amen
