 praying through psalms

Dear Father,

Thank-you for hearing my supplication when I cry out to You. When I confess my iniquities to You, You are forgiving, and full of mercy and grace. In You there is abundant redemption. My soul waits for You, O Lord. By the power of the Holy Spirit, help me to place all my hopes, dreams, and plans in You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Psalm 130:1-8  NKJV

“Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord;
Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive To the voice of my supplications.
If You, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?
But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared.
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, And in His word I do hope.
My soul waits for the Lord More than those who watch for the morning— Yes, more than those who watch for the morning.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is mercy, And with Him is abundant redemption.
And He shall redeem Israel From all his iniquities.”

Dear Father,

Thank-you that when You are with me the enemy will not prevailed against me. You will cause my enemies to turn away in shame. By the power of the Holy Spirit, may I always remember that it is You who blesses me.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Psalm 129:1-8  NKJV

“Many a time they have afflicted me from my youth,” Let Israel now say—
“Many a time they have afflicted me from my youth; Yet they have not prevailed against me.
The plowers plowed on my back; They made their furrows long.”
The Lord is righteous; He has cut in pieces the cords of the wicked.
Let all those who hate Zion Be put to shame and turned back.
Let them be as the grass on the housetops, Which withers before it grows up,
With which the reaper does not fill his hand, Nor he who binds sheaves, his arms.
Neither let those who pass by them say, “The blessing of the Lord be upon you; We bless you in the name of the Lord!”

Dear Father,

Thank-you for Your many blessings. You provide for my every need. In You alone I find happiness, peace, and true joy. By the power of the Holy Spirit, cause me to have a deeper respect and reverence for You. May I walk in Your ways all the days of my life.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Psalm 128:1-6  NKJV

“Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, Who walks in His ways.
When you eat the labor of your hands, You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.
Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine In the very heart of your house, Your children like olive plants All around your table.
Behold, thus shall the man be blessed Who fears the Lord.
The Lord bless you out of Zion, And may you see the good of Jerusalem All the days of your life.
Yes, may you see your children’s children. Peace be upon Israel!”

Dear Father,

Thank-you that when You are at the center of something it cannot fail. When we follow Your plans we do not labor in vain. May we see children as You do – a heritage given to us by You. They are a great reward from You. Like the arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are our children. With every blessing comes responsibilities, so by the power of the Holy Spirit, may we fulfill our responsibilities toward our children in love.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Psalm 127:1-5  NKJV

“Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep. Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.”

Dear Father,

When You free us from captivity to sin we are filled with peace, joy, and laughter. You put a song in our heart and a praise on our lips. Thank-you for the great things that You do for Your people. By the power of the Holy Spirit, may we remember that tears lead to rejoicing.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Psalm 126:1-6  NKJV

“When the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion, We were like those who dream.
Then our mouth was filled with laughter, And our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” The Lord has done great things for us, And we are glad. Bring back our captivity, O Lord, As the streams in the South. Those who sow in tears Shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, Bearing seed for sowing, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, Bringing his sheaves with him.”

praying through psalms

Dear Father,

I place my trust in You and I will not be moved. Thank-you for surrounding me with Your presence. In Your presence there is peace. By the power of the Holy Spirit, help me to do good and to have an upright heart. Lead me away from iniquity and closer to You, O Lord.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Psalm 125:1-5   NKJV

“Those who trust in the Lord Are like Mount Zion, Which cannot be moved, but abides forever.
As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the Lord surrounds His people From this time forth and forever.
For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest On the land allotted to the righteous, Lest the righteous reach out their hands to iniquity. Do good, O Lord, to those who are good, And to those who are upright in their hearts.
As for such as turn aside to their crooked ways, The Lord shall lead them away With the workers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel!”

Praying Psalm 124:1-8

praying through psalms

Dear Father,

Thank-you that You are on my side. When the enemy rises up against me, it is You who protects me. You are my shield and my strength. When the waters of life try to overwhelm me, it is You who keeps me from going under. My help comes from You and You alone. From many dangers, You have helped my soul escape. By the power of the Holy Spirit, may I always be thankful for all the things that You do for me, both great and small.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Psalm 124:1-8  NKJV

“If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,” Let Israel now say—
“If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, When men rose up against us,
Then they would have swallowed us alive, When their wrath was kindled against us;
Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, The stream would have gone over our soul;
Then the swollen waters Would have gone over our soul.”
Blessed be the Lord, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; The snare is broken, and we have escaped.
Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.”
